5.       9 to 5

Every morning he’d wake up late to start work at 9.20

He was supposed to start at 9

Even when he was supposed to start at 9.30

He’d arrive at 9.50.

That 20 min lateness day in day out.

The thing is, he didn’t struggle to get out of bed

On the weekends he’d get up at 6am for no reason

But the place he spent his 9-5 days repelled him.

He toyed with that 20 min lateness

It stretched to 30… 40.. 50… 60…

But no one ever seemed to mind

This relaxed him so much that eventually

the hate he had for his work slipped away.

He continued to turn up with a smile

no less than a hour late every day

and always left 10 mins early.

ten to ten to five
